25 Aug 08 Samadhi Float Tank

I was researching these Samadhi tanks tonight. (AKA…Float tanks). For those that don’t know Samadhi is taken from Buddhism (Sanskrit probably) meaning concentration or entering into trance. Buddhism taught Precept (Abandoning addictions) Samadhi and Wisdom. By virtue of enlightening to the first two principles one could achieve wisdom.

At any rate these float tanks are basically a tank with ten inches of water and 800 pounds of Epsom Salts. So you basically float in these things leading to increased relaxation, a possible meditation state, etc (or it just feels cool). You are apparently enough underwater that you cannot hear anything. Mix that with darkness and floating and you have a pretty cool experience.They run for $8k to $12k online, but you can build your own for around $800. Our house isn’t really big enough for such a thing, but at some point I want one of these babies….(search for Float tank or Samadhi tank on google to learn more)
